Confinement for offending Medgyessy ?
MNO, 2002. November 23.
A young man could be sentenced to prison for labeling prime minister Péter Medgyessy treasonable in public. The incident took place at the Kapolcs festival in August where the head of the government went in private. According to Kolláth György - constitutional lawyer – it’s not correct for the state to prosecute in cases like this one.
The Tapolca police charged Dániel Loppert with disorderly conduct. The first trial will be held in Veszprém in mid January. To be noted: Medgyessy came in private to the Valley of Arts festival and he improvised a speech for the people gathered there. From the crowd of mostly young people a few voices shouted “traitor”.
No other assault took place than shouting said Dániel Loppert remembering : a few men wearing no uniform surrounded him telling that they were from the National Security Office. They called for an identity check prepared a report and even a video. There were no police officers present so it’s odd that eventually the police brought up the charges against him.
Editorial: The Ministry of Justice did not wish to comment, since the case is still in progress.
